Their goal is to provide the necessary tools to help Early Childhood Organizations reach their goals by providing professional development and enhancement tools to better serve the children and families. The Association welcomes numerous of programs and organizations which share the same interest. Everyone is provided with new insights on how they may enhance their organization. This invitation is open to the public of Child Development/Early Childhood. Networking is vital as everyone are able to exchange new ideas.

NAEYC ensures programs within the local area and statewide are equipped to serve its family, children and community with high quality care. They aim to serve the community by respecting the diversity of people and ensuring everyone has a voice.

South Carolina Association of Community Action Partnerships involves the community as it values the diversity of children and families. They provide services such as Head Start, Weatherization, Tax Info and so on for the families of the community to improve quality of life for low-income community. "This is accomplish by advocating for policies that strengthens program services; coordination of extensive training and professional development; serving as a state clearinghouse for information and data compilation of reporting; marketing, building of public and private partnerships, governmental, and developing and dissemination of research, information and resources that enrich service delivery" (SCACAP). SCACAP partner up with others to brainstorm workshops, youth programs, grants, health care and more for the community.

This organization not only serves Child Care Provider and the Child Development Programs, but children and families as well. Organizations such as Family Connection, Parents Reaching out to Parents, allows families to collaborate and gain resources and insight regarding children with special needs.

    1. I noticed that you picked large organizations. Do you want to work for a large community of practice or does something more local interest you? I noticed the one position offered benefits and started at low to mid 40's which in the ECE field is pretty good.

    2. Both of these are great organizations. NAEYC is a wonderful organization to work for, as I was offered a position shortly after graduating from college. At that time, I was not quite ready to leave Mississippi and relocate to Washington, DC. I declined the job offer. It's funny now that I think about such, as I now reside in Washington, DC! It's quite amazing how NAEYC is responsible for a plethora of local and state communities of practice. Are you currently a member of NAEYC? If so, do you volunteer for the local affiliate chapter? Please subscribe to my blog. I just submitted the link to my blog on blackboard. My blog link is http://journeytoknowledgetake2.blogspot.com/

    3. Rhonda Johnson,

I enjoyed reading about the CoP’s, associations for children and job experiences. Our Community Action Partnership assist homeless families and their children along with all the things you mentioned. I noticed that the salaries are still very low for woman and they are not comparable to the salary of me. Starting salaries for Los Angeles Unified Teachers start at $50K but that still is low for a large metropolitan city. I recently joined our California Association for the Education of Young Children. This organization sends out journal magazines that have articles relating to many of the topics we have discussed in this program and course. I am delighted that I joined my national chapter and wish to join the local chapter real soon. Thank you for your post.
